Punchbowl Falls along Eagle Creek in the Columbia River Gorge

The weather on Friday was too beautiful to be holed up indoors so I grabbed a late lunch and ate it on my drive out the Columbia River Gorge, headed to Eagle Creek. It was my first time on the popular trail but it certainly won’t be my last. I was happy to catch it on a weekday during the shoulder season as parking on Summer weekends can be problematic. I made it out to Punchbowl Falls, taking it in from both the upper and lower viewpoints – the lower being where you can also see Lower Punchbowl Falls (third photo). Despite some exposed trail with a significant dropoff, it’s otherwise a moderate hike with gradual grades that gets you to the falls in under four miles, round-trip. As you can see from the photos, it’s well worth the trip.
